A message from Cabinet Secretary Trujillo Greetings! For the last few months our department has been working hard to bring together the 23 tribal nations of New Mexico with our state government. In May, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, tribal leaders and our cabinet secretaries met for the first State Tribal Leaders Summit of the new administration. This summit was an amazing opportunity for both tribal leaders and state officials to discuss areas of potential collaboration and to begun building new relationships. Over the day and a half summit leadership discussed some of the most pressing issues impacting our tribal communities and areas of potential collaboration. This was an important first step to renewing the state’s promise to meaningful government-to-government dialogue and collaboration with tribes.
