Suicide Prevention

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

and it is a time to raise awareness on this stigmatized and often taboo topic. In addition to shifting public perception, we use this month to spread hope and vital information to people affected by suicide.

Throughout the month of September, the State of New Mexico will highlight the unifying theme of “TAKE 5: Learn the signs, Know how to help, Practice self-care, Reach out, Spread the word”, which encourages people to bring their voices together to advocate for better mental health care.

By taking 5 minutes to get involved and become informed, you will be part of a worldwide movement to save lives.

Our goal is to ensure that individuals, friends, and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and seek help.

If you are having a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.
